Archival Ink Prints are printed on Hahnemuhle Bamboo paper (very nice stuff) by a fine art reproduction printer. They are very high quality and look amazing. This open edition print is the best and most economical option for those who want a print but at a more accessible price point.
Darkroom prints are printed on Ilford fiber-based paper and processed in traditional darkroom chemistry. The silver gelatin printing process is a true photographic print process and allows the printing material to be kept and stored for much longer periods of time (like, literally hundreds of years).
If you want, I will cut a 16x20 4-ply acid free archival mat and mount the print for you ($20 extra). This is how I prefer the print to be presented but you can order the print without and have your local framer cut a mat of any size. The final print size is 7.5 x 7.5.
Bamboo requires only a third of the water to grow that cotton and other traditional paper fibres need. Also, bamboo does not really have any natural pests, meaning there's no need for chemical pesticides. At best it can grow up to 120cm per day so is a highly productive, renewable resource perfect for paper making.
